Building the Repertoire

If you have just finished freshman year, well done! Or, you may feel that this is a good place to start. You should be familiar with first position and second position, and be able to play single notes clearly.

These lessons continue with first position, and teach more tunes. All musicians should have a good repertoire of tunes, played from memory. You have already begun your repertoire, we help you to build it. In particular, you should study the intermediate tunes. To prepare for these tunes, this module explores the high notes on the instrument, which are often neglected, even by good players. We introduce first position chords, and show how to find the notes for them on the harmonica.

At the end of this module, you will have the the technical background to tackle the advanced tunes, which provide the entry to "sessions", and a lifetime of music making.
