Its a hot humid & very wet Christmas eve here. Everybody rushing about to finalise their shopping. Bummer, my new Seydel 20 harp hard case(my Christmas present) hasn't arrived. It has long been tradition to have roast dinners (pork, chicken, turkey & leg of ham) & plum pudding for Christmas dinner but this morning I heard on the wireless that 6 tonnes of prawns(shrimps) is expected to be sold today by our local fish market. In line with our warm climate a seafood feast is sensible & is planned by us for Christmas day but we will uphold tradition by having the roast this evening.

Wishing all a very Happy Safe & Joyous Christmas.

Thanks Dave,

Well where still a day away from
Christmas Eve here.

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas Day.

My Family is growing a bit. My oldest son got
married last year and my daughter seems to have
a serious boyfriend. After a string of losers I think
she might have a great guy.

My grandson is 5 and still have Marquise 13 so it will
be a crowded house the day after tomorrow. Christmas day!

And the day after I'm jumping on a train from Connecticut with whoever wants to go and training it down to NYC. First visit there for me. So close but never desired much to go to the city.

Maybe take a subway to times square, Rockefeller Center,
and possibly go see Ground Zero.

Merry Christmas everybody!!

Merry Christmas to everyone and all the best for a harpy and prosperous 2012.

We have 13 grandchildren and will see most of them over the next few days. There are 3 in Queensland who we won't see but Christmas will be hectic enough without them. We will go, as usual, to my sister in laws place in Iluka, which is up Garry's way, for Christmas lunch. My wife is one of 10 so there is usually quite a crowd. We all take drinks and a dish of food to share.

Regards to all, Pete

Hi Everyone!

How wonderful to come online and read all these Christmas messages! I didn't say anything before but I have been in the ER twice this last few days with a kidney stone. The pain has been similar to childbirth but I believe I am through it now. I played harmonica, brined a turkey and wrapped presents in between bouts. My husband, Dave, has been absolutely wonderful which is my true Christmas gift plus you guys. It is early Christmas Eve morning here as I write. The weather has been gentle so far this winter.God bless you all.

Christine

Just after 7am here Christmas morning. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Hope you're over the pain, Christine - I remember a kidney stone attack I had some years ago - luckily none since.

Quick story:
After the attack I was in the UK getting plied with pints and more pints of beer by rellies in the local pub. Had to take a call of nature and while doing so heard a ping as it hit the stainless steel. On returning to Oz my doctor wanted to have the stone to analyse. Told him there was no way I'd be fishing around in a pub's urinal for a wee stone. ;-)

Once I received a call offering me a decent sum to turn for a pianist for a chamber music concert. I was pleased to finally get paid for something I'd been doing pro bono for years. I got there early and met with the pianist. He seemed high-strung but some people are before a concert. I clarified repeat issues with him and he assured me he was a clear nodder. The concert began and I soon saw why he was so high-strung; his mediocre technique and limited musicality made him a bad choice to play the well-known Beethoven and Brahms trios he was tackling (almost literally, football player style). We got towards the end of the first page and he did not nod. I figured, Maybe he likes memorize the beginning of the next page and have late turns. Nope as we reached the last two beats he abruptly turned his heard toward me and, in a low, gruff voice barked, Turn! This disagreeable ritual was repeated for most of the performance. I thought it might have been less disruptive for him and the audience to nod as he said. No such luck. I made it through and didn't mess it up, but he really unnerved me and I dare say I was very deserving of my pay that evening.

Liz is not just ANY page turner. Liz is the Heifetz, the Pavarotti, the veritable Yo-Yo Ma of page turners. She is the kind of page turned who, if I was completely fumbling a difficult passage, would suddenly have an uncontrollable puking fit so as to draw attention away from my screwup. She also knows exactly how many pieces of sushi you might need at intermission. At least that's my experience; your mileage may vary One last bit of clothing advice for page turners: No dangly loose jackets. I once played a whole violin recital with silk caressing my left cheek at every turn. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it, but it was kind of distracting.

I love that sweater with the short shorts, tights, and boots. You're the second blogger I've seen rocking that particular look, both of you very differently. It makes me want a big hand knitted sweater. (Hmmmm, maybe I can press my mother in law into service?)Heather Fonseca recently posted..
